Nyacha was formed in 2002 in Beira, the second largest city in Mozambique. The band, consisting of eight young students, were finalists in the 2003 Music Crossroads Mozambique National Festival and thereafter were invited to perform at the Music Crossroads InterRegional Festival which took place in Tanzania.

Coming from a low income neighborhood of Beira highly affected by hiv/aids, Nyacha's highly energetic and utterly dance friendly music speaks about love, respect for each other.
In 2006, Nyacha was invited by Mundial Productions to join the Mundial on Tour program alongside Zemkala from Music Crossroads Tanzania. Nyacha had such an impact that Mundial decided to reinvite them to a more professional Tour of Holland in March 2007.
